Summary:
How to behave when the guy who broke your heart two thousand miles away turns up in your office:

One: Don’t drop your lucky coffee cup in shock, even though it’s been ten years.

Two: Don’t get defensive when he asks how you ended up working his family’s ski mountain… and why you kept it a secret.

Three: Give him the worst room in the resort. He deserves it for suddenly waltzing back in like he owns the place. (Which he kind of does.)

Four, five, six, seven, eight and nine: Do not kiss him in the hot tub.

Ten: Try to keep your heart intact after you break all of your rules.

Because Reed is leaving again. Hate can’t turn back into love. And it’s a little too late…

This is the third or fourth Sarina Bowen book I’ve read and let me tell you I am not disappointed. First of all, I absolutely, positively love a second chance romance. Especially when they were together in college, which I know is a really weird niche to love.

Ava is a character who is easy to identify with, especially if you’ve ever suffered from imposter syndrome. She is cool and collected, until she isn’t. Until she’s tested but even then she manages to pull through, in the face of her ex who totally broke her heart, in the face of Texas business tycoons trying to pull a fast one and even more. I really enjoyed her as a character and do not know if I would be as forgiving in her circumstances.

Reed is attractive to me, I cannot tell a lie. He’s got the life he’s always wanted…right? But sometimes those dreams don’t play out as well in reality, we all know this, and this book is his opportunity to learn. And oh boy does he.

In this book are an interesting but sometimes aggravating cast of background characters (Ava’s friends, and Reed’s father) who serve as pretty good foils for the outcome.

The relationship between Reed and Ava was one I constantly found myself cheering for and sometimes grumping about. (Seriously, just talk! Use your words!)
